Volunteer Commitment / Policy

Our foundation serves individuals and communities through Volunteers who share the same feelings and thoughts regarding conscience, and who accept and practice the foundation's vision, mission, values, and methods. Our volunteers agree to abide by the following commitments and policy, and operate within this scope.

Volunteer Oath as a Vicdan Foundation Volunteer

As a volunteer of the Vicdan Foundation, I commit to embracing the foundation’s mission, values, and goals and to act accordingly. I aim to contribute to fostering positive change/transformation in individuals' hearts and in society’s behavior through the Vicdan Foundation’s activities that raise awareness and activate the conscience on human and universal rights. In this context:

We aspire to build a more just, compassionate, and peaceful world guided by conscience.

OUR MISSION

We believe that the compassion and peace that sprouts/will sprout in every human heart forms/will form the foundation of our society. We aim to build a world based on equal rights and fair treatment for all, free from discrimination and prejudice. Through education, research, and community service projects, we strive to help individuals rediscover their suppressed conscience and exhibit conscientious behavior in solving societal problems.

  • Empathy: I will respect the emotions and needs of every individual in society.

  • Solidarity: I will collaborate with our volunteers and other civil society organizations.

  • Inquiry and Vigilance: I will not hesitate to express my opinions openly in a way that aligns with the foundation's purposes and goals, without harming the foundation's reputation or activities.

APPROACH AND METHODS
  • Principled: I will strive to act in accordance with the principles that reflect humanity's collective conscience.

  • Against Violence and Conflict: I will avoid impulsive and reactive behavior, maintain channels of communication, and prioritize finding common ground.

  • Inner Activism: I will aim for gradual transformation in society and work to mobilize policymakers through shared reactions to injustices faced by those in need.

  • Seeking Common Ground: I will strive to create neutral spaces for people who are tired of daily political arguments and conflicts, to communicate and solve their common problems.

COMMITMENTS
1. Embracing the Foundation's Vision, Mission, and Values:
  • I will make efforts to understand and spread the foundation's mission and values.

  • I will act in accordance with the foundation's goals and work towards them.

2. Ethical Behavior:
  • I will always act with honesty, fairness, and ethics.

  • I will respect human rights and universal values.

3. Education and Awareness:
  • I will participate in events to the best of my ability and enhance my knowledge.

  • I will share the knowledge I have gained accurately and effectively.

4. Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • I will work collaboratively with foundation staff and other volunteers.

  • I will value teamwork to achieve common goals and work together.

  • I will openly express my ideas and opinions.

  • I will keep negotiation, interaction, and democratic processes alive at all times.

5. Oversight and Monitoring:
  • I will be attentive to and prevent misuse and wrong actions in all activities within the foundation to safeguard its reputation, vision, mission, and values.

  • I will not hesitate to inform and warn those concerned if necessary.

6. Transparency and Accountability:
  • I will be transparent and accountable in my activities.

  • I will be honest and open in communications within and outside the foundation.

7. Responsibility and Reliability:
  • I will fulfill my assigned duties in a timely and complete manner.

  • I will be reliable and responsible.

8. Cultural Sensitivity and Respect:
  • I will respect different ethnicities, cultures, beliefs, and values.

  • I will reject all forms of discrimination and be inclusive.

9. Child Protection:
  • I will take all necessary measures to ensure the physical, mental, and emotional safety of children.

  • I will show zero tolerance towards all kinds of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of children.

  • I will respect children’s privacy and their rights.

10. Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
  • I will show zero tolerance for any form of sexual exploitation and abuse.

  • I will immediately report any situation related to sexual exploitation and abuse, whether within or outside the foundation, to the relevant authorities.

  • I will ensure a respectful and safe environment among staff and volunteers.

11. Privacy (Confidentiality):
  • I will be diligent in protecting personal information and privacy and not sharing it with third parties.

  • I will be careful and sensitive to data privacy violations.

12. Conduct Towards the Needy and Victimized:
  • I will act towards the needy and those seeking help according to the principles mentioned above.

  • I will be considerate of the feelings, expectations, and protective needs of those in difficult situations and be sensitive to these matters.

  • I will be respectful, empathetic, and fair towards these individuals.

FINAL STATEMENT

I acknowledge that failing to comply with this commitment could harm the existence and reputation of the Vicdan Foundation. I accept that non-compliance may result in warnings, temporary suspension from voluntary activities, or termination of my volunteer relationship.

As a Vicdan Foundation volunteer, I pledge to adhere to the commitments and policies stated above. I promise myself, the foundation, and all other volunteers to do my best to fulfill the mission of the Vicdan Foundation, uphold and spread these values, and be a conscientious person.
