August's Exemplary Behavior: Refusing to Kill

Itamar Greenberg’s decision was chosen as the “Exemplary Behavior” of August by the votes of the Conscience Foundation volunteers. This courageous decision, which was previously highlighted as the “Exemplary Behavior of the Week” in the first week of August , was accepted as the most inspiring stance by our volunteers throughout the month.

Young Israeli Itamar Greenberg has strongly demonstrated his commitment to human rights and moral responsibility by refusing to join the Israel Defense Forces. He made this decision public in a tweet, stating that joining the army was a political choice, but joining an army founded on occupation and oppression was a crime. Greenberg, who stated that he was prepared to listen to his conscience and pay the price for taking this stance, is currently in a military prison.

Greenberg's courageous decision shows his courage to defend not only his own conscience but also universal human rights principles. His resistance reminds us all how important the struggle for human rights is as a defender of peace and justice.

As the Conscience Foundation, we wholeheartedly support this exemplary behavior. Individuals like Itamar Greenberg inspire our efforts to make the world a better place by acting according to their conscience. We will continue to defend peaceful resistance and the right to conscientious objection.

Greenberg's stance once again demonstrates how valuable it is to have the courage to listen to your conscience and do what is right. As the Conscience Foundation, we will continue our work to raise awareness of human rights and freedom of conscience with such inspiring stories.
