Example of Conscience of the Week: Haluk Levent's Call for Aid for Karayakup Village

In the Karayakup village of Gördes district of Manisa, 55 houses were completely reduced to ashes as a result of a fire that broke out last night. This tragic event broke our hearts with the last glimpses the villagers took of their homes. The villagers suddenly found themselves homeless and in uncertainty. As the Vicdan Foundation, we chose the solidarity shown in the face of this sad event as the conscience example of the week.

Following this great disaster experienced by the villagers, Haluk Levent, the famous artist and founder of the Ahbap Association, took action and started an aid campaign to heal the villagers' wounds. This campaign, carried out in cooperation with the Gördes Municipality and the Gördes Nature and Culture Association, aims to build new houses for the villagers who lost their homes in the fire.

This call for help shows once again how strong solidarity and empathy are in our society. Haluk Levent's humanitarian stance not only heals the villagers' wounds, but also activates our social conscience and reminds us how we can support each other in difficult times. This exemplary behavior displayed against this tragedy in the village of Karayakup reminds us once again how important kindness and cooperation are.

As the Vicdan Foundation, we have chosen the most remarkable acts of conscience within the framework of the criteria determined by our volunteers, as we do every week. These criteria include empathy, sacrifice and concrete actions. This aid campaign initiated by Haluk Levent has stood out as a meaningful example of conscience that meets all these criteria.

This campaign can be considered a social solidarity movement, beyond just a call for help. Haluk Levent and the Ahbap Association understood the difficulties experienced by the villagers and took action for a concrete solution. This behavior represents a sacrifice made for the good of others and an effort to create a positive change in society. At the same time, this conscientious stance can inspire others and pave the way for similar solidarity movements.

As the Vicdan Foundation, we support and see it as our duty to spread such humane and empathetic stances. This aid campaign initiated by Haluk Levent and other supporters will be remembered as a beautiful example of cooperation and solidarity in our society and has been chosen as the conscience example of the week. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this difficult process and hope that the aid will be successful in healing the wounds of the villagers.
