The Power of Sacrifice and Love: The Inspiring Story of Yiğit and His Grandfather

There are some stories that touch a person's heart and renew their faith in life. The story of little Yiğit and his devoted grandfather, who live in Istanbul, is exactly like this. Yiğit, who cannot walk due to osteoporosis, tries to hold on to life in the loving arms of his grandfather without his mother and father.

Yiğit is a child struggling with osteoporosis. He may have been forced to live a bedridden life due to his illness, but thanks to his grandfather's determination and love, Yiğit has found a way to connect with life. Although his tiny body is not enough to run around in the parks, his grandfather carries Yiğit on his back every day and gives him the chance to play in the playground like other children. Thanks to his grandfather, Yiğit can touch toys, spend time in the park, and his happiness never fades away.

This loving and selfless act was chosen as the “Exemplary Behavior of the Week” by the votes of the Vicdan Foundation volunteers. Our volunteers appreciated the sacrifice of Yiğit’s grandfather and his love for his grandson, reminding us all once again of the power of sacrifice and solidarity.

Yiğit’s grandfather carries his grandson on his back every day, giving him moments of happiness. “I carry him on my back wherever I go, as long as he is happy,” he says. These simple yet powerful words show that love can make anything possible. Perhaps the lesson we can all learn from this story is that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact. Yiğit and his grandfather are an inspiring example of overcoming difficult times and making life better together.
