Exemplary Behavior of the Week – Support from Stango, President of the Italian Federation for Human Rights

Our Conscience Foundation volunteers vote for a conscientious behavior each week to draw attention to exemplary behavior in the pursuit of human rights and justice.

The conscientious act of this week, with the votes of our volunteers, was the sensitive attitude of Antonio Stango, President of the Italian Human Rights Federation, who closely follows the Girls' Case in Turkey and supports it with his statements. His observations on this case, his statements that he will bring it to the agenda in the Italian Parliament and his emphasis on the law are a great source of inspiration for us.

President Stango came to Istanbul to follow the case on site. He stated that the accusations, especially against young girls, were politically biased and contained legal inconsistencies, and that the foundations of justice and human rights were damaged in this case. He also said that the right to defense was not sufficiently provided and that some young defendants may have been intimidated during the trial.

This strong stance was an important warning not only in the context of the case but also in terms of Turkey's legal system in general and its compliance with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. Stango stated that Turkey should respect such human rights decisions in order to strengthen its position in international organizations.

Stango's sensitive attitude, especially her determination to be the voice of young girls , stands out as an important example of solidarity against human rights violations not only in the Italian Parliament but also in the international arena. This effort she has shown for a conscientious world will greatly contribute to the strengthening of conscience movements both in Turkey and around the world.

Chosen as the most conscientious act of the week by the Conscience Foundation volunteers, Antonio Stango's stance in this struggle for justice will continue to be a source of inspiration for all our volunteers. Our volunteers are determined to wholeheartedly support these efforts based on human rights and conscience, as always.
