Our “Effective EU Program for Monitoring Compliance with the International Human Rights Framework” Workshop was Successfully Held

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the workshop we organized within the scope of the “Effective EU Program for Monitoring Compliance with the International Human Rights Framework” at Ankara New Park Hotel was successfully completed. As the Vicdan Foundation, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our event.

The opening speech of the workshop was made by our Foundation Board Chairman Dr. Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu. In his speech, he emphasized the search for conscience, rights, truth and justice, which are the basic principles of our foundation, and expressed the importance of human rights regardless of any religious, political, sectarian or ethnic identity. Drawing attention to the human rights violations that occurred particularly during the State of Emergency and Statutory Decree processes, Gergerlioğlu stated that awareness should be raised on these issues and solutions should be found.

The aim of the meeting was to raise awareness about human rights violations, develop effective solutions against illegalities and support people affected by this process. During the workshop, the participants focused on the illegalities of the Statutory Decrees, the problems and rights violations experienced by refugees, prisoners and segments of society experiencing economic difficulties.

As Vicdan Foundation, we do not only voice the problems; we also try to create positive changes in society by producing concrete solutions to these problems. In this context, this workshop, organized with the support of Etkiniz EU Program, is of great meaning to us.

Finally, we would like to express our endless gratitude to Etkiniz EU Program for their support to our event. Such events help us take important steps towards eliminating human rights violations and ensuring social peace.
